On Thursday, August 22, 2019, the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and the College of Population Studies, Chulalongkorn University, held a conference on  “Breakthrough the Public Service Innovation: From Ideas to Big Impact” at the Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam. The conference opened with welcoming speeches from Professor Dr. Vipan Prachuabmoh, Dean of College of Population Studies, Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. Pakorn Nilpraphan, Secretary General of Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, followed by a speech from Mr. Renaud Meyer, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Thailand.

The conference was a part of the public service innovation development project, or Gov Lab 2019, which is a joint operation between the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission, Chulalongkorn University, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Thailand.  With the aim to enhance the performance of public service providers, 75 i-teams, representing 30 public agencies, need to produce a design thinking process that elevates public services and develops prototypes to implement the ideas presented.  The project is supported by a variety of institutions, including G-Lab, Thammasat University, Research and Design Service Center KMUTT (Redek), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Kasetsart University, Creative Economy Agency, Thailand Future Foundation, and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Chula is the place to discover one’s true individuality and the years I spent here were most enjoyable.
