Chulalongkorn University Partners with Huawei to develop a Smart Campus and AI Curriculum for Sustainable Innovation 

Bangkok – Chulalongkorn University has partnered with Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. to co-develop a Smart Campus and co-design AI-driven academic programs aimed at fostering a sustainable innovation ecosystem in line with Thailand’s digital transformation goals. 

Professor Dr. Parichart Sthapitanonda, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, participated in the Huawei Thailand Digital & AI Summit 2025 under the theme “Embrace AI, Ignite the Future,” organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, in collaboration with Huawei, on May 29, 2025 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. 

The summit served as a platform to promote Thailand’s efforts to become ASEAN’s digital and AI innovation hub by 2027. At the event, three strategic pillars were outlined to guide national digital policy: 

1. Strengthening digital infrastructure through a Cloud-First policy, 
2. Enhancing government services and expanding access to high-speed internet nationwide, 
3. Advancing cybersecurity and human capital development through upskilling initiatives for citizens and AI professionals. 

In accordance with this strategic policy for digital personnel development, the collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and Huawei will focus on the development of a fully integrated Smart Campus. The initiative includes upgrading ICT infrastructure and co-developing academic programs in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Big Data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Digital Leadership—laying the groundwork for a long-term, sustainable innovation ecosystem within higher education. 

Prof. Dr. Parichart stressed that “This partnership marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of Thailand’s education sector. It will play a crucial role in preparing students and university personnel to thrive in the new digital economy.” 

In addition, Huawei ASEAN Academy Thailand continues to play a pivotal role in advancing digital leadership and technical expertise. Through practical training for engineers and expanded access to emerging technologies, the Academy contributes to building a digitally empowered workforce for the future.
