An Open Letter from Chulalongkorn University to Thai Students Residing in the United States

10 June 2025

To all our beloved Thai students in the United States,

On behalf of Chulalongkorn University, I send our heartfelt concern and solidarity to each of you who are currently living and studying in the U.S.—especially during this period of uncertainty surrounding visa policies that may affect your right to education.

Recently, Chulalongkorn executives and I had the opportunity to visit Harvard and MIT, where we met with many Thai students. We were deeply inspired by your determination, dedication, and perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge—qualities that you continue to uphold even in the face of an uncertain future.

I want to affirm that all of us at Chulalongkorn stand in admiration of your resilience and are firmly committed to supporting you through this challenging time.

As a representative of the Chula community, I would like to express our clear commitment through three key actions:

  1.  Care – We have prepared a legal support team to offer guidance on visa matters. We are also ready to coordinate with the Thai embassy and relevant agencies.
  2.  Support – If your academic journey is disrupted, Chulalongkorn is ready to provide educational counseling, help re-route your study plan, and facilitate credit transfers to ensure your graduation is not derailed.
  3. Opportunity – Whether you wish to continue working in the U.S. or return to Thailand, we will help connect you with Chula alumni, leading companies, academic institutions, and opportunities to collaborate with Chulalongkorn University.

Though you may be far from home, please know that the hearts of all Thai people—and especially the Chula community—are with you. And to all Thai students, regardless of the university you attend, if you are seeking a way to continue your education, Chulalongkorn University welcomes you with open arms to help you complete your journey.

With deepest care and best wishes,

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, D.Phil. (Oxon)
President, Chulalongkorn University
