A big round of applause for the student team from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Architecture, who won first place in The International Design Award: (Re)Engaging Cities’ Landscape for Cultural and Economic Vibrancy in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The competition was held on October 1, 2025, and organized by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) in collaboration with the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee.
The contest challenged participants to develop innovative design solutions for the Cai River area, promoting smart city concepts that enhance the local economy while preserving the city’s ecosystem and cultural landscape. More than 160 teams, comprising over 500 participants from 25 countries, submitted more than 60 projects.
Chulalongkorn University’s winning project showcases the transformative potential of landscape architecture and cultural heritage in sustainable urban development. The design offers a forward-looking vision for Nha Trang, integrating resilience to climate change with cultural and economic vitality. It is expected to serve as a guiding framework for Nha Trang’s General Plan through 2040, promoting sustainable development across the region’s cultural, economic, and environmental spheres.
