Chulalongkorn University proudly congratulates its faculty and staff from the Office of Art and Culture Administration, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Science for winning two Gold Medals and one Special Award (Double Gold & Special Award) at the International Invention and Trade Expo (IITE 2025) held in London from October 22–23, 2025, as follows:
The project “Siam Gesso”, developed by the conservation team from the Office of Art and Culture Administration, Chulalongkorn University, and the KCT Conservation Team—comprising Ms. Hansa Kamluean, Ms. Ratchadakorn Klakerd, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukkaneste Tungasmita, Asst. Prof. Dr. Duangamol Tungasmita, and Ms. Kwanjit Lertsiri —received a Gold Medal and a Special Award.
This project focuses on developing a Thai-knowledge-based primer mixture for visual arts applications, supporting sustainable conservation and restoration of artworks.
The project “Mus-S Powder Coat: Powder Coat from Mussel Shells for Sustainable Art Applications Concept”, a collaboration among the Office of Art and Culture Administration, the Faculty of Education, and the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University—comprising Asst. Prof. Dr. Somchai Boonyanan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Vitchatalum Laovanich, Mr. Kunchit Jitratan, Mr. Suchart Imsamran, and Mr. Pongsak Sookmanee —received a Gold Medal for its innovative production of powder coating made from mussel shells for sustainable use in art and design.
This international achievement reinforces Chulalongkorn University’s Impactful Growth strategy. It marks the first time the university has expanded its core strategy into the Impactful Growth Plus initiative under the Office of Art and Culture Administration, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yootthana Chuppunnarat, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University.
The initiative integrates Chulalongkorn’s expertise in visual arts with science, social sciences (art education), and research and development to produce innovative works that drive creative and sustainable social transformation.
Notably, the awarded projects align with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 11, 14, 15, and 17, and contribute to the office’s vision of achieving “Local to Global” impact—bridging Thai roots to the world. This success also represents a step forward in Chulalongkorn University’s journey toward becoming a Transformative University in the future.
