Chula Recognizes its Distinguished Faculty Members for 2024 

The Chulalongkorn University Faculty Senate held an award ceremony to honor the recipients of the “Distinguished Faculty Member Award of the Year 2024” awards on October 31, 2025, at the Reception Hall of Chulalongkorn University Auditorium. The awards aim to recognize outstanding Chula faculty members across various disciplines who exemplify academic excellence and serve as role models for their colleagues. 

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, presented plaques of honor and certificates to the awardees. The event featured a welcoming address by Professor Tashmai Rikshasuta, President of the Faculty Senate, and a report by Associate Professor Nuttaporn Suddee, Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Faculty Affairs. 

For the 2024 academic year, the “Distinguished Faculty Member Award of the Year” awardees in each category are as follows: 

• Science: Professor Dr. Tirayut Vilaivan, Faculty of Science  

• Health Sciences: Associate Professor Dr. Krit Pongpirul, M.D., Faculty of Medicine 

• Social Sciences: Associate Professor Dr. Pattanaporn Chatjuthamard, Sasin School of Management 

• Humanities: Professor Dr. Bussakorn Binson, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts  

• Fine and Applied Arts: Professor Phanchalath Suriyothin, Faculty of Architecture  

Following the award presentation, Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Professor Dr. Bussakorn Binson (Model Faculty Member in Humanities), and Professor Dr. Tirayut Vilaivan (Model Faculty Member in Science and Technology) participated in a panel discussion titled “Distinguished Faculty Member: Leaders of Wisdom in the Transitional Era.” 

The discussion explored the evolving role of educators in today’s society — not only as transmitters of knowledge but also as intellectual leaders, sources of inspiration, and cultivators of human values amid times of change. The session was moderated by Professor Dr. Pitt Supaphol, a member of the Faculty Senate Subcommittee on Faculty Affairs.
