Invention from CU Students Receives Recognition at Thailand Research Expo Awards 2020

On Wednesday, 5 August 2020, Professor Dr. Sirirurg Songsivilai, Secretary-General of the National Research Council of Thailand, was at the Thailand Research Expo 2020 to present awards to finalists who participated in the “Innovation Competition at the University Level 2020”.  The expo was held between 2-6 August 2020 at the Bangkok Convention Center, Centara Grand Hotel.

CU students received 11 awards for their proposals and inventions.

1. Awards for Project Proposal at the University Level 2020

Agriculture and Agricultural Industry:

  • Outstanding Award for the project, “Portable paper base sensor for detecting heavy metal in canned food from agriculture products”
  • Good Award for the project, “Nano-adhesion vaccine against gingivitis in fish”

Medical, Public Health, and Technology:

  • Outstanding Award for the project, “Rapid molecular test kit for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis”

Technology Development, Artificial Intelligence, Energy and Environment:

  • Good Award for the project, “MicrosisDCN (Microbes Diagnosis with Deep Convolutional Neural Network)”

Quality of Life and Creative Economy:

  • Good Award for the project, “Promoting the learning of electric circuits and electronics through educational games”

2. Awards for Innovation at the University Level 2020

Agriculture and Agricultural Industry:

  • Outstanding Award for the project, “Nano-adhesion vaccine against gingivitis in fish”
  • Good Award for the project, “Portable paper base sensor for detecting heavy metal in canned food from agriculture products”

Medical, Public Health, and Technology:

  • Outstanding Award for the project, “Smart ergonomic chair: prevents neck pain from long hours of sitting”
  • Good Award for the project, “Rapid molecular test kit for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis”

Technology Development, Artificial Intelligence, Energy and Environment:

  • Outstanding Award for the project, “MicrosisDCN (Microbes diagnosis with deep convolutional neural network)”

Quality of Life and Creative Economy:

  • Good Award for the project entitled, “Multi-use of recycled textile to create avant-garde apparel brand for women”

Thailand Research Expo 2020 Awards was organized to foster knowledge and inspire the new generation of researchers and inventors.  It is also a platform to present innovative projects to the public, while encouraging university students to build a network across institutions and connect with private sectors.  This year, the Thailand Research Expo 2020 has selected inventions that support Thailand 4.0 and BCG.  The selected projects were placed into four industries: Agriculture and Agricultural Industry; Medical, Public Health, and Technology Industry; Technology Development; Artificial Intelligence, Energy and Environment Industry; and Quality of Life and Creative Economy Industry.

The research proposals and inventions submitted by Chulalongkorn University include:

1. Agriculture and Agricultural Industries:

  • Gold Award for the project, “Nano-adhesion vaccine against gingivitis in fish”
  • Gold Award for the project, “Portable paper base sensor for detecting heavy metals in canned food from agriculture products”

2. Medical, Public Health, and Technology:

  • Gold Award for the project, “Smart ergonomic chair: prevents neck pain from long hours of sitting”
  • Gold Award for the project, “Rapid molecular test kit for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis”

3. Technology Development, Artificial Intelligence, Energy and Environment:

  • Gold Award for the project entitled, “MicrosisDCN (Microbes diagnosis with deep convolutional neural network)”
  • Silver Award for the project entitled, “New Thai youth engage in finance with FINS”

4. Quality of Life and Creative Economy:

  • Gold Award for the project entitled, “Promoting the learning of electric circuits and electronics through educational games”
  • Gold Award for the project entitled, “Multi-use of recycled textile to create avant-garde apparel brand for women”
  • Gold Award for the project entitled, “Product design inspired by multi-cultures of old town songkhla province”
  • Gold Award for the project entitled, “Creating a fashion identity for uniforms in the hospitality industry in Thailand”
  • Gold Award for the project entitled, “Khelang city art”
