Innovareef, an innovative work from Chulalongkorn University by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantharika Chansue, Director of the Veterinary Medical Aquatic Animals Research Center (VMARC), and Mr. Warut Srisuwan, a PhD candidate in the Technopreneurship and Innovation Management Program (CUTIP), won the National Innovation Awards (NIAWARDS) 2020 for Product and Service Design.
Innovareef, is an innovation designed to make conservation of the world’s oceans more balanced, harmonious, and sustainable. Starting with the preservation of the coral reef ecosystem and marine life of Thailand under the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, the innovation was designed and produced with 3D printing to enhance the efficiency and the lifelike beauty of artificial corals that blend in harmoniously with the natural marine ecology.
“Innovareef” is a collaboration between the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University, Siam Cement Group Public Company Limited, and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. For more information on the “Innovareef” project, visit https://youtu.be/lwmiSjU9ooc.
Moreover, Chulalongkorn University received the Prime Minister Award 2020: Innovation for Crisis (Category: Government Sector)” from the National Innovation Agency (NIA) on October 5th, 2020. The award was for Chula’s innovative solutions to the COVID-19 crisis, through partnerships with private sectors, that benefit Thai society. Representing Chula to receive the award from Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister, at the Siam Kempinski Hotel on National Innovation Day (October 5th, 2020), was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natcha Taweesaengskulthai, Vice President for Strategic Planning and Innovation and Global Engagement.
