Chulalongkorn University Selected as Southeast Asian Malacological Society Headquarters

Chulalongkorn University has been selected as the headquarters of the Southeast Asian Malacological Society, or SAMS. The center’s role will be to build knowledge about molluscs and develop researchers specializing in malacology in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
The news was revealed by the President of Southeast Asian Malacological Society and Professor Dr. Somsak Panha of the Department of Biology at Chulalongkorn University, during the first Malacological Society of Southeast Asia Working Group Meeting back in October 2017. The meeting was set up to establish ASEAN-level cooperation in research and studies in malacology, while creating a database on the biodiversity of resources that can be shared at the regional level. The first collaborative research activity will be held mid-2018 under the concept of “Malacca Expedition” in Malaysia, whereas the first academic conference will take place in Thailand during 2019.

Chula is the place to discover one’s true individuality and the years I spent here were most enjoyable.
