On Monday, 9 April 2018, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, gave a special keynote speech, “Chulalongkorn University in the Transition Period”, at Chulalongkorn University. He commended the University for actively contributing to innovation and development, and maintaining the standard of being the first higher education institute in Thailand.
In his speech, the Prime Minister stated that CU plays a pivotal role in moving the country towards stability and prosperity, which are foundations for a peaceful nation. The university has an important task of producing 21st century digital Thai citizens, who are well-rounded, skillful, and public-minded. Finally, the Prime Minister expresses his hope that Chulalongkorn University continues to produce quality graduates and looks forward to seeing developments in data sciences, artificial intelligence, bio-medical, medical robotics, and more.
On this occasion, Professor Bundhit Eua-Arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University said that Chulalongkorn University is ready to serve as the flagship in moving the country towards Thailand 4.0. The university plans to play a major role in the Eastern Economic Corridor development and build up-to-date technology for the country. The President mentioned the University’s three strategic plans, which include developing a University Technology Center with Artificial Intelligence & Robotics and Biomedical Engineering Centers, expanding the cooperation with private sectors for the Siam Innovation District, and collaborating with the Benchakitti Park Hospital (formerly known as the Tobacco Monopoly Hospital) to research and develop elderly healthcare services.
