Bangkok International Children’s Theatre Festival 2018 (BICT Fest 2018)

The BICT Fest is back!  Set to take place from 15-27 May 2018 at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, the BICT Fest is organized by the Arts on Location and the Democrazy Theatre Studio to offer a creative platform for children, adults, and a community of like-minded people from different backgrounds to meet and share their passion through stimulating activities.  Get ready to enjoy award-winning performances from around the world and join in creative activities for the entire family.  This year, the festival has three main activities: International Performances, BICT Forum, and Workshops.

The forum is divided into three parts:

Forum 1: An International Panel of Festival Programmers

The panel of world-class international festivals will get together to share experiences and discuss about the future of theatre for children and young audiences.  The discussion will also include obstacles and considerations before hosting a festival for young audiences.

 

Forum 2: Talks

A series of talks exploring the key themes and topics relevant to the performances.

 

Forum 3: Southeast Asia Theatre for Young Audiences Meeting

Supported by The Japan Foundation of Bangkok, this meeting is an insightful exchange between artists and TYA professionals.  Further exploring into the topic of why Theatre for Young Audiences are underdeveloped in Southeast Asia and what to look forward to in the future.

 

An event to look forward to at the festival is the performance ‘Horses’, a collaborative effort of the Belgian Dance Company, Kabinet K-a group of professional Thai dancers, and Chulalongkorn University.  The workshop for ‘Horses’ will be at Chulalongkorn University during 10-15 May 2018.  While the showcase performance will be at the opening ceremony of BICT Fest at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center on 17 May and performing for the general public on 19 May 2018.
