Monday, September 19, 2022. Sri Paduko Mangkoenagoro X (King of Puro Mangkunegoro), Surakarta, Indonesia, accompanied by his sister, Ancillasura Marina Sudjiwo, Head of Kemantren Langenpraja, and a group of 8 royal court dancers from Puro Mangkunegoro Palace, made an official visit to Chulalongkorn University. His Majesty visited Chulalongkorn University to facilitate cultural exchange between the Indonesian and Thai royal courts.
The President of Chulalongkorn University welcomed King of Puro Mangkunegoro and His Excellency Mr. Rachmat Budiman, Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand. King of Puro Mangkunegoro signed the University’s visitor book at the university’s main auditorium reception room. HM the King visited the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and watched performances by students of the Department of Dance and Thai music at the faculty’s main hall, followed by a performance from Puro Mangkunegoro royal court’s dance art teachers.
After the show, the royal court’s teachers held a workshop for 14 Thai dance students in the department’s dance studio.
King of Puro Mangkunegoro and the delegations also visited the University Museum at the Office of Arts & Culture, Chulalongkorn University.
On this historical visit, all lecturers, faculty staff, and students gathered to welcome HM the King of Surakarta at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.This visit will bring more collaboration and cooperation between the Puro Mangkunegoro and Chulalongkorn University in the field of cultural promotion, particularly of the Javanese. It is also expected that there will be exchange of cultural performance between the delegation and the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Chulalongkorn University for the mutual benefit of the two parties.
