Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science and the Faculty of Engineering have worked together to research and develop a three-dimensional artificial cornea from stem cells that offers a way to treat deep corneal wounds in dogs. The innovation helps to solve the problem of treatment methods that rely on tissue replacement which is hard to find and very expensive. It makes it possible for dogs to be able to see clearly and comfortably once again.

Chula Faculty of Allied Health Sciences has launched a ready-to-eat flourless rice innovation made from egg whites, branded “eggyday”.  This product is low in calories, filled with good-quality protein, high in calcium, complete with dietary fibers, and free of gluten.  It is suitable for health-conscious people trying to control their weight, the elderly, and those suffering from diabetes. 

Researchers from Chula Faculty of Science invented an easy-to-use “Cat Urine Test Kit” to screen for the risk of kidney disease, gallstones, and cystitis in cats. The test kit provides fast and accurate results, so cats can be treated promptly.

After legalizing the Kratom plant in Thailand, researchers can now build upon a longstanding local wisdom to use the plants for healing.   Dr. Thongchai Sooksawate, a lecturer from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chulalongkorn University, presents his ongoing research to use Kratom plants as analgesic, anti-inflammatory drugs, and detoxification aids for substance addiction, offering natural alternatives to chemical medications.

Chula scholar recommended that the Thai government recognize the Elephant Pants as a Soft Power by featuring them in cultural activities, supporting local craftsmen, promoting the product in international fashion events, and sharing the origin and sustainability of the Elephant Pants on digital platforms. This will improve Thailand’s image and support the local economy.

Chula joins hands with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) to design “Walkable City” using the GoodWalk Score as the criteria for selecting the pilot area to be developed as Walkable City in Bangkok as well as many cities around the country.  The plan is to help reduce pollution, revitalize tourism, and the local economy while enhancing the quality of life and health for city dwellers.

Chulalongkorn University isn’t a Buddhist university but it does serve as a resource center for Buddhist Studies research and education. There are now various programs that offer courses in Buddhist Studies.
