Her Royal Highness Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Presided Over the 45th International Council for Traditional Music World Conference 2019

On Thursday, July 11, 2019, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the “45th International Council for Traditional Music World Conference 2019” at the CU Auditorium. Professor Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University, Professor Dr. Pirongrong Ramasoota, Vice President for Social Outreach and Global Engagement, and Professor Dr. Bussakorn Binson, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, welcomed Her Royal Highness at the opening ceremony.
On this occasion, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn watched the Thai traditional Khon performance, an excerpt from the Ramayana. Following the performance were presentations on “70 Years of ICTM” by Prof. Salwa Castelo-Branco, President of the International Council of Traditional Music, and “The Journey of 45th ICTM World Conference in Bangkok Thailand” by Professor Dr. Bussakorn Binson, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts. The keynote speaker session was on “Transborder of Theories and Paradigm in Ethnomusicological Studies of Folk Music: Vision of Moh-lum in Mainland Southeast Asia”, given by Asst. Professor Charoenchai Chonpairoj from the College of Music, Mahasarakham University.
Also included in the conference performances were the “Moh-Lam”, performed by Mohlam Ratreesrivilai Bongsittiporn and Yotika Srivilai Bongsittiporn, and the “Lam Toey”, performed by CU students from the Dance Department, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.
After the conference, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn proceeded to the Maha Chulalongkorn Building to pay homage to the Royal statues of King Chulalongkorn and King Rama VI.
