To mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, as well as the Golden Jubilee of Thailand–China friendship, Chulalongkorn University, through the Chinese Studies Center of the Institute of Asian Studies, and Thammasat University, through the Pridi Banomyong International College, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, co-hosted an international academic conference. The conference was held under the theme: “Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of China–Thailand Diplomatic Relations and the Golden Jubilee of China–Thailand Friendship.”
The opening remarks were delivered by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Professor Dr. Supasawad Chardchawarn, President of Thammasat University. The event was officially opened by Mr. Wu Zhiwu, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of China in Thailand. Special keynote addresses were given by H.E. Dr. Panpree Bahiddha-Nukara, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Professor Dr. Jia Qingguo, former Dean of the School of International Studies at Peking University and member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The event took place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Social Innovation Center Hall, 1st Floor, Visid Prachuabmoh Building.
The core activity of this international academic conference was the presentation of scholarly work by a total of 16 Thai and Chinese scholars over a two-day period, June 14–15, 2025. The event aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge in Chinese Studies and the multifaceted relationship between Thailand and China since the establishment of diplomatic ties on July 1, 1975.
