Chulalongkorn University and the People’s Eye Care Foundation jointly held a ceremony to present the certificates and plaques of appreciation to those who have made significant contributions to the mission to help cataract patients among vulnerable groups nationwide on May 27, 2025, at Chamchuri 10 Building.

Dr. Dolpiwat Preedawiphat, President of the People’s Eye Care Foundation, expressed his appreciation and admiration for the Chulalongkorn University students and youth who use their creativity and compassion to drive projects for society. The ability of the younger generation to transform their fieldwork experiences into inspiration and take real action reflects quality citizenship and represents a vital force for Thai society’s future.

Prof. Dr. Suchada Sukrong, Executive Director of Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation, joined in congratulating the students, remarking that “The role of students in raising funds using their creativity is an example of how academic knowledge can be integrated with social innovation, which is the heart of modern education.”

The project reflects the successful development of students into change agents who can connect knowledge with practice to solve social problems in a tangible way.

The People’s Eye Care Foundation was established in 1994 with a mission to assist patients suffering from cataracts and preventable eye diseases through free mobile medical units. Over the past 30 years, the foundation has restored sight to more than 47,820 patients.

In 2025, the foundation launched the project “30 Years of Light,” aiming to raise 9 million baht to support an additional 1,000 cataract patients across the country. The project focuses especially on vulnerable groups in remote areas who still lack access to proper medical care.

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
