Chula Signs MOU with EA Affiliate to Develop Technology for Proper Lithium-ion Battery Disposal

On Monday, August 24, 2020, the Center of Excellence on Hazardous Substance Management (HSM) held the MOU signing ceremony for academic collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and Amita Technologies (Thailand) Company Limited, an affiliate of Energy Absolute (EA) Public Company Limited.

The cooperation has been made to develop a prototype machine that can discharge and separate lithium-ion battery cells, as well as research on the process of salvaging precious metals to prepare for the future 100% battery recycling age.  Moreover, the two parties agree to exchange knowledge and provide support for research on issues relevant to lithium-ion battery production technology and battery testing.

The MOU was signed by Prof.Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of the university; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sutha Khaodhiar, Director of HSM; and Mr. Somphote Ahunai, and Mr. Amorn Sapthaweekul, representatives of Amita Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

The sense of kinship and warmth found in the Chula community is priceless and a treasure worth keeping.
