Announcement The COVID-19 Committee Chulalongkorn University Re: Measures Taken Regarding the Person Found Infected with the Corona Virus (COVID 19) 1/2021

On February 5, 2021 the COVID-19 Committee Chulalongkorn University was informed by the Office of Physical Resources Management that a staff member of the university has been tested positive for COVID-19 after secretions had been taken from the nasal cavity and pharynx and the person has since been admitted for treatment in the hospital.Corona Virus (COVID 19) 1/2021

The COVID-19 Committee Chulalongkorn University has therefore implemented the following measures:

  1. Immediately contacting persons who came into close contact with the infected person to be screened as well as to offer advice and evaluate the possible risks of infection. 
  2. Investigating the possible transmission cycle of the infected person so that those who are at risk during the period of 14 days before detection of infection on February 5, 2021 are obligated to refrain from reporting to work for a period of 14 days which will not be counted as a formal leave of absence.  If it is suspected that they have been infected they may contact the Chulalongkorn Health Center to receive screening and monitoring, the cost of which will be fully covered by the University.
  3.  The Office of Physical Resources Management shall carry out cleaning and sanitization procedures of its premises according to public health standards for Chamchuri 4 and 5 Buildings, Service 2 Building and Chula Nivas Dormitory Building to reduce the risk of physical contact as well as to facilitate the management and control of the infection.   
  4. Should it be found that any student or staff member has been infected by the Corona Virus (COVID-19) as a result of having had contact with the said staff member the University will refer that person for treatment at Chulalongkorn Hospital and cover all the costs for that treatment.   
  5. All persons who enter the university campus ae advised to strictly comply with the measures that have been implemented to prevent the infection of the 2019 Corona Virus (COVID-19) especially by wearing face masks, observing social distancing and frequently washing their hands.
