Chulalongkorn University’s Research Displayed at “Thailand Research Expo 2025” Press Conference 

The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, held a press conference announcing “Thailand Research Expo 2025 on June 1, 2025, at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, CentralWorld, with Dr. Wiparat De-Ong, Director of NRCT, convening the press conference.

The event featured discussions on various topics:

  • “Platinum Award Talk: Empowering a Research Community with Prestigious Awards” by. Prof. Dr. Juckamas Laohavanich, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahasarakham University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somrote Komolavanij, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Panyapiwat Institute of Management

Chulalongkorn University also contributed an exhibition of research titled “Sweetness Revolution: Elevating Thai Flowers to Health Products” by Prof. Dr. Supaart Sirikantaramas and his research team from the Faculty of Science. The research focuses on developing enzyme technology that can reduce sucrose in fruits and convert it into prebiotic fructooligosaccharides (FOS), which are beneficial for intestinal health and help slow sugar absorption. This adds value to substandard fruits, reduces agricultural waste, and can be developed into various health products including reduced-sugar fruit juices, prebiotic ice cream, and healthy dried fruits. 

Thailand Research Expo 2025 is a national research showcase platform held annually. This year it is organized from June 16-20, 2025, from 09.00–17.00 hrs. at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, CentralWorld, under the concept “Research for all: Connecting Thailand’s Future through Research and Innovation.” The goal for this event is to demonstrate that research is relevant to everyone’s lives, providing opportunities for everyone to participate and benefit from research and innovation to drive national development in all dimensions.

In this year’s Thailand Research Expo, research network partners from across the country will present updates on their research, innovation, and technology that can lead to national development under 6 research themes:

  • Research and innovation for Industrial Applications and New Economic Development 
  • Research and Innovation for Sustainable Social Advancement 
  • Research and Innovation for Creating Sustainable Environmental Balance 
  • Research and Innovation for Enhancing Community Enterprise Potential
